A new contract on the table for Erling Haaland

The 2022 January football transfer window is open now and there's plenty of gossip going around about who's moving where in the very near future.

Borussia Dortmund are preparing this week for new contractual talks with their top striker Erling Haaland, his father Alf-Inge and also the agent Mino Raiola, SportBILD reports. And they seem to want him to make a decision on his future by the end of January.

It seems that the 21-year-old Haaland could leave Dortmund at the end of this season if a new club pays the 75 million euros release fee. Sources told that the fee will be inflated by a significant payment to Haaland's representatives to sort out a deal, while high-ranking personalities from interested clubs have been told that the striker expects wages to make him earn more: 550,000 euros per week.

All big clubs like Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea, Bayern Munich, PSG, Barcelona and Real Madrid arel in the race to attract the Norwegian star, agent Raiola having talks with some of the most important European clubs last year. "Maybe this summer, maybe next summer. But there's a good chance Erling will leave this summer," Raiola told Sport1 a month ago.

Sources report that Haaland will consider any interest of several clubs when the time comes for him to leave Dortmund, but apparently Real Madrid are the main competitors in signing the striker, while the Spanish club is also pushing to get Kylian Mbappe as a free agent at the end of his PSG's contract - which will be at the end of this season!
Even though Haaland's contract with the Bundesliga team will expire only in the summer of 2024, the chances of him leaving earlier are very high as the Norwegian star recently announced that teams from Spain have priority for his signature.

Although Dortmund officials recently announced that the team has the financial resources to persuade Erling Haaland to stay, team chairman Hans Joachim Watzke said it would be very difficult to do so. However, the Dortmund official wanted to assure the fans that Haaland will not leave this winter: “ Erling Haaland will not leave in January under any circumstances. Who would agree to sell a top European striker during the winter transfer window, especially since he doesn't need to do that? Next year? It will certainly be very difficult for us to keep him, but without a doubt we want that and we will try to persuade him to stay" Borussia Dortmund president Hans Joachim Watzke told Spiegel.de. Also, Dortmund GM Hans-Joachim Watzke has said Real Madrid are "very interested" in Haaland, but Borussia will do everything they can to keep the Norwegian star. Earlier this month, Borussia Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc announced that there would be talks between Haaland and the club's management.

"No matter where you go, everyone is talking about Erling Haaland. The only thing I know for sure is that Real Madrid is very interested in him. Now I could name another 25 teams. "I think Haaland is better suited to Spanish football than the English football. All the top teams in Europe want Haaland, but especially Real Madrid.A few days ago, I had a good conversation with Mino Raiola (Haaland's agent). The phone call was quite friendly. We will definitely have another conversation in the coming weeks. The focus is on Haaland's overall development. As in the case of Lewandowski, I would like to be proud of Erling at some point if he wins the Champions League. Personally, I think he could stay in the Bundesliga" , Watzke said.

In recent months, Haaland has been in talks with several European top clubs among them, teams capable of investing several hundred million euros for the entire business.
However, there are claims that Manchester United gave up the transfer of Erling Haaland after finding out that he would like to sign and play for Real Madrid. At the same time, Pep Guardiola's plans to bring him to Manchester City have also been turned upside down.

"Manchester United have withdrawn from the race for the transfer of Haaland after discovering that he wants to play for Real Madrid. The feeling of the English clubs is that Dortmund would have reached an agreement with Real Madrid, through which they would send Haaland to the Spanish capital, in the summer.", the quoted source noted.
The British believe that the Real Madrid officials have been working very hard on Haaland's next transfer lately and they are ready to create an unbeaten attack this summer: a trio of Erling Haaland, Kylian Mbappe, and Vinicius Junior - assisted by veteran Karim Benzema!

Erling Haaland is one of the most prolific footballers in the world today, at only the age of 21. As expected, clubs bigger than Borussia Dortmund assaulted the Norwegian with offers.

Haaland has scored 76 goals in 76 games for Dortmund, after joining FC Salzburg for around €20M in the middle of the 2019-20 season, despite attempts by Manchester United and former coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to bring him in the Premier League.
